Chelsea

Well... at 2:38pm yesterday my daughter officially made it to the real world.

18 3/4" long
5lbs. 12 oz.

Here are a few pics... Elaina is resting up in bed here, she'll be going home Monday morning most likely. I'll be camped up here for the weekend with Elaina & Chelsea.

It's time!

I went in today for my weekly check up and it looks like we are going to be having our baby this Thursday! I'm 100% effaced and 1 cm dilated, so I can go into labor at any time now. My doctor decided to move my c-section to this Thursday instead of February 12th. I will be 37 weeks by Thursday and will not be considered preterm. They estimate the baby to be 5lbs 14oz right now, so we had to go out and buy preemie outfits! I really did not expect to be having our baby this soon! I'm freaking out!

36 weeks

We had our 36 week check up yesterday, and as I suspected, the baby is still feet down. Soooo.. my c-section is scheduled for Feb 12th.. 6 days before my original due date. The doctor estimates the baby will be about 7 to 7 1/2 lbs. I will have an ultrasound on Monday to check her size and to see if she's decided to move into position. I really don't think she's going to flip since she is running out of room. So if I don't go into labor before my scheduled c-section, we will be parents around 9am on Feb. 12th!

pediatrics

We just visited St. Charles County Pediatrics an hour ago... very nice place, impressive staff and facility. The doctor we chose seems awesome, and the office is pretty close to our house... definitely a plus. I feel comfortable with them. Now we just have to figure out the whole daycare thing for once Elaina has to return to work. We are getting close to the due date! Pretty exciting stuff....

shower time

Ok.. Elaina's sister-in-law Tracey threw her a baby shower today while I watched Vegas Vacation and Joe Dirt with my dad and brother. Thanks Tracey and Tracey's mama! Here are some pictures my mom took...

Thanks also to all those in attendance and who sent gifts, most appreciated... mad props and love to you.

Sincerely,
Baby Daddy

34 weeks

I'm HUGE! and I still have 6 weeks to go! My back hurts.. my sides feel like they are going to explode and I can't even walk around Target without being out of breath and ready to sit down. Anyone that says they loved being pregnant is out of their mind! I can't wait to have this baby!

hospital tour and other fun stuff

We took a tour of the hospital tonight... it was pretty cool, we learned a lot. There was this one obnoxious bitch there though that I wanted to strangle. She wanted to make sure everyone else in the group knew she was a high risk pregnancy and blah blah blah... we learned all sorts of random tidbits about her. . We got some good information about the hospital and procedures too though, and learned the layout of the building....

In other news, Elaina came home from work around 5:40 tonight and the carbon monoxide detector was freaking out. So, she called me and I came home from work immediately... luckily I work 2 miles from home. The thing wouldn't shut up so we called the gas company just to be safe. They notified the fire department and within 10 minutes a fire truck pulled up in front of my house. 3 guys came in and checked things out, and gave us the all clear.. turns out we have a big piece of junk for a carbon monoxide detector. Ah well... it worked fine for 6 years. So we're going to buy and install new ones tomorrow... top of the line, baby!

Move baby!

So I had my 34 week check up this morning... and little Chelsea is still breech. The doctor told me an excercise I can do to try and get her to move down, but she's been in this position for at least 5 weeks now and I don't think she's going to budge. If she hasn't moved by my next appointment (in 2 weeks), we will have to schedule a C-Section. Which also means that Chelsea will be here before my due date! I really don't want to have a C-Section, but on the other hand, I really don't want to go through labor.

laundry

So... while I was at work yesterday Elaina washed all the baby clothes. I can only imagine what a pain in the butt that must have been. There are a lot of tiny little socks waiting for tiny little toes.... it is hard to believe we made a person and she's almost here.
